Joseph Fortman is a Senior Software Engineer at Otus. They provide a Learning Management System (LMS) aimed at K12 schools, with a specialty in analytics and visualizing student growth over time.

Joe works mainly on backend systems: ingesting rostering data and managing external integrations. He has implemented integrations for Respondus, TurnItIn, InfiniteCampus, Clever, PowerSchool, Schoology and more. Fluent in the OneRoster specification.

He has a loving wife and two pets. In his free time he enjoys playing video games and finding new projects to work on. This blog was one of those projects; a meta-project to write about his other projects.

When he was younger he was a member of the competitive video game community for Super Smash Brothers Melee. He entered tournaments from 2006-2016, and hosted tournaments from 2008-2016. He was a member of the Melee Back Room, and known best for producing the Community Tier Lists in 2013 and 2015.
